Silences

I do not remember silence always
Except in the brief interlude when

One sound holds over to another.
It is a silence on the sound’s edge

The brief highway of paddy fields
That occur ‘tween town and town

In a populous countryside where
The noisy chickens cross the road

And a man is found lying on road
In helpless pool of drunken silence.
